UK children's book prizesThe CILIP Carnegie Medal and Kate Greenaway Medal Winners AnnouncedThe 2005 CILIP Carnegie Medal has been won by Mal Peet with Tamar (Walker). The Kate Greenaway Medal was won by Emily Gravett with her debut picture book Wolves (Macmillan). These prestigeous awards are voted for by librarians across the country and the winners were announced at a ceremony at the British Library on Friday 7 July 2006. Branford Boase AwardFly by Night by Frances Hardinge and edited by Ruth Alltimes at Macmillan, has been announced as the winner of the 2006 Branford Boase Award. The award celebrates the most promising book for seven year-olds and upwards by a first time novelist and also highlights the importance of the editor. Red House Children's Book Award WinnersPercy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan was announced 2005 winner of the Award for Older Children and Overall Winner, at the Red House Children's Book Award, at this year's Hay festival. Pigs Might Fly by Jonathan Emmett and Steve Cox won the award for Younger Children, while Spy Dog by Andrew Cope won the award for Younger Readers. All the books were published by Puffin. Nestlé Children's Book PrizeThe winner of the 2005 Nestlé Children's Book Prize has been announced. The Gold medal winners are as follows: 5 years and under category Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers 6-8 years category The Whisperer by Nick Butterworth 9-11 years category I, Coriander by Sally Gardner Find out more about the prize and this year's winners and shortlist Booktrust Teenage PrizeSarah Singleton's Century has won the Booktrust Teenage Prize for 2005.
